Jan Fennell

Internationally renowned author of five books, Jan Fennell’s revolutionary method of communication with dogs, has earned her respect and admiration amongst many dog owners.  She has shown them that there is another way of gaining trust and willing co-operation with your ‘best friend’ using a non-confrontational, gadget-free method.  By using this method she has termed ‘Amichien Bonding’, owners are able to overcome undesirable behaviour without ever having to get angry or upset.

Jan’s journey began when she saw a demonstration by the acclaimed ‘Horse Whisperer’ Monty Roberts which sent her on a journey to find out how this method could be adapted to working with dogs. The idea of inviting a dog to work with a human using the dog’s own language seemed obvious.

At no time was any pain inflicted, no gadgets used nor any stress placed on the dog.  The result being a more relaxed and stress-free dog, happy to co-operate with its owner of its own free will.

Her series of programmes on ‘Animal Planet’ have been shown internationally and have proven very popular.  Both her BBC series and our very own programme, ‘Wonder Dogs’ featured her consulting with desperate dog owners on behaviour issues ranging from annoying to potentially dangerous.

Apart from her many speaking appointments, students travel from all over the world to attend her courses which are held in her home in Lincolnshire, England.  As well as Jan’s bestselling books ‘The Dog Listener’ and ‘The Practical Dog Listener’, she has produced a variety of CDs, videos and DVDs.  These answer all number of questions from selecting a puppy to the stages of the dog’s development, to working with and handling a dog.
